Telx Announces 2009 Colocation and Interconnection Customer Event

By Erik Linask, Group Editorial Director

Is there a better business proposition than that which offers an opportunity to lower costs while increasing revenue? Of course not. That’s the stance Telx CEO Eric Shepcaro (News - Alert) takes when talking about his companies growth: Telx offers more interconnection opportunities across a smaller footprint than any other colocation and interconnection facility. In particular, he says, the number of providers businesses can connect to is the single greatest driver of Telx’ growth — which he says amounts to more than 1,000 cross-connects added in Q4 2008.

The interconnection and colocation model is one which works for nearly every business segment — and it’s among the key reasons for the success of Telx’ Customer Business Exchange (CBX) event, and why the company is so bullish on its upcoming 7th Annual iteration of the event, June 25, 2009 in Manhattan.

While some businesses are trying to save a few budget dollars by cutting out event attendance, if you were in Miami last month for ITEXPO, you witnessed what TMC president Rich Tehrani (News - Alert) called a “blockbuster” event. Laura Borgstede from Calysto PR wrote that, “Despite rumors of VoIP's demise… Internet Telephony (News - Alert) Conference & Expo exceeded expectations” — in fact, the event grew by 15 percent despite (due to?) the economy.

What this means is that, for a valuable, well-organized event, businesses are willing to overlook the costs of attending, understanding that the potential benefits of being able to forge relationships has immeasurably more potential.

The 2008 CBS event drew attendees from 458 companies in 21 countries, all looking for new opportunities to extend their networks and add new services quickly and efficiently.

“Attending CBX 2008 provided our company with real results that helped grow our business,” said Anthony Rossabi, Vice President of Carrier Services at Tata Communications (News - Alert), who is anticipating even greater opportunities at June’s event.

Telx’ CBX is annually among the largest colocation and interconnection events, providing existing and potential customers to build new business relationships that drive even further cross-connectivity between the networks and businesses that reside in Telx’ 15 facilities — collectively referred to by Shepcaro as “the new next generation IP hotel.”

The Telx facilities are located in major urban markets, which, not by chance, are in line with the needs of its customers, and now boast more than 24,000 cross connects. But, what truly differentiates Telx, according to Shepcaro, is its service.

“We are a service provider first, then a quasi-real estate company,” he said. “Our entire culture is service-centric.”

Part of that commitment to service is highlighted in CBX 2009, as it again provides an opportunity for enterprises and network operators to grow their businesses through new relationships with an extensive carrier and service provider community that is already seeing business efficiencies through colocation and interconnection services from Telx.

“In this challenging economic environment, companies are searching for quick and easy ways of creating opportunities that drive revenue and allows them to meet prospects, talk to customers and strengthen relationships.” said Tesh Durvasula, Chief Marketing and                 Business Officer for Telx.

Headquartered squarely in Manhattan’s financial district, Telx also offers services specifically targeting the financial industry — an opportunity few in financial services are in a position to overlook today. Telx, in fact, has created an entire ecosystem focused on the needs and priorities of the financial sector — much like Telx as a whole focuses on the needs of each of its customers.

So, regardless of whether you are an enterprise or a carrier, whether you’re in the financial sector or any other line of business, make you plans now to be in New York for this event that promises to broker new business deals among Telx customers, partners, and prospects.
