CoSentry, a company specializing in data center and managed services, reportedly announced the opening of their fourth data center.
The new Midlands Data Center is a 68,000-square-foot Tier IV hardened facility which has been specially designed to withstand wind speeds of 250 mph. It exhibits greater reliability with respect to power, cooling and connectivity thereby reducing downtime, said company sources.
The Midlands facility was designed by George Morrissey, president and CEO of Morrissey Engineering, specialists in data center design.
“Midlands was designed as the next generation of data centers. These data centers must balance extreme density computing environments with the economic requirements to be as energy efficient as possible. They also are designed to meet business performance goals which require the resiliency to withstand the region’s most extreme weather conditions and power disruptions,” said Mike Steffan, president and CEO of CoSentry.
Steffan added, “Addressing elements such as dual power grids, energy efficient cooling, LEED standards and tornado proof construction is critical to data center design but are often overlooked based on budget considerations. The design elements incorporated by George and his team made it possible for CoSentry to meet client expectations, build to extreme density design criteria and exceed all Tier IV data center requirements.”
The center is capable of withstanding rigorous environmental conditions typical of the area. The Midlands Data Center also features maximum security with multiple layers of physical and logical security including systems from Cisco (News - Alert). It houses critical applications for clients who require high levels of uptime. Utility companies, large e-commerce firms, transportation companies and financial organizations benefit a lot from the CoSentry Network.
The new data center is also a green data center and has been designed to meet LEED Silver Certification criteria. The building features energy saving and efficiency features which will reduce the environmental impact significantly, according to CoSentry sources.
Nebraska Governor Dave Heinemann commented that this is an important project in Nebraska which will benefit from the securely designed data center. He congratulated CoSentry saying that it sets a new standard, allowing the state and Nebraska-based companies to continue building a reputation for success in the high-tech arena.
