Maxell, a manufacturer of data storage media and energy products, has launched its RDX Storage technology products in Japan.

With this launch, the company has joined the list of other OEM partners of the RDX Storage Alliance which includes industry leaders Dell, Fujitsu, Hitachi (News - Alert), HP, IBM, Imation, NEC, ProStor Systems and Tandberg Data.

The RDX Storage Alliance is a non-profit professional community of customers, storage professionals, industry experts, RDX vendors and partners who are committed to sharing informative and engaging RDX solutions, best practices, and practical use-cases for companies to optimize and simplify data back-up, archive, compliance and disaster recovery while reducing associated costs.

"Less than 50 percent of small businesses have any or adequate backup, archive, compliance and disaster recovery procedures for their company's data; they need reliable backup products and they want products that go beyond minimal backup, retention, restore capabilities," Mitsuyuki Nagano, department manager in the Business Planning Department at Maxell said.

"RDX technology fills the gap by offering greater functionality: quick data replication, cartridge portability and durability, flexible restore and longevity. Small businesses, such as law firms and medical offices, all need these features. They will get these with RDX products," Nagano added.
