Intertex (News - Alert) Data AB announced its SurfinBird IX78 ADSL, a new customer premises equipment solution with full SIP support that also integrates separate IP services like Internet, TV, telephony and mobility into a multimedia LAN for the user.

 

The Swedish company explained that the new solution enables all services, whether delivered over IMS or otherwise, on a single protected multimedia network in situations where all LAN or WLAN connected terminals have access to all applications and services.

 

Thanks to the solution, all terminals, including IPTV, can communicate with each other. The services can reportedly be delivered over ADSL PVCs, Ethernet VLANs or other triple or quadruple play architectures.

 

Combining a powerful firewall and NAT router with a built-in ADSL modem, the IX78

supports speeds up to 24 Mbps downstream and up to 3 Mbps upstream. With a throughput of 90 Mbps, the firewall can also be used as a stand-alone Ethernet connected firewall. The IX78 includes 4 Ethernet ports with the capability of setting up DMZs.

 

Several options are offered including high speed 802.11 b/g wireless access point, 2 ports for analog telephones or faxes (FXS), SIP gateway to the traditional telephone network (FXO) for emergency call handling, USB 2.0 host port and an IPSec VPN Server. The IX78 reportedly can handle more than 50 concurrent SIP calls through the firewall, and even more internally on the LAN.

 

Intertex Data AB said the Intertex SurfinBird IX78 brings new possibilities to deploy broadband with an extended and new set of attractive offerings towards both the residential and the small office market segment. The unique IX78 enables all applications and services, even if delivered over different WAN-pipes, over IMS or over the Internet, to be available to all wired and wireless terminals on the user’s Multimedia LAN.

 

Moreover, the IX78 has the ability to support TR-069 as well as Intertex’ proprietary provisioning system for easy integration with the operator’s customer handling system.
