Radware, BEA Systems Team on Network Solution for Service Providers

By Arun Satapathy, TMCnet Contributor

Radware, a provider of integrated application delivery solutions for business-smart networking, is teaming up with BEA (News - Alert) Systems to better address the needs of enterprise and carrier customers.

More specifically, Radware (News - Alert) is providing IT and network support for BEA customers. This partnership comes on the heels of BEA certifying Radware’s AppDirector intelligent application delivery controller as being interoperable with its own WebLogic Server and related communications platform products.

Those products include BEA WebLogic SIP Server (an integrated Java EE and SIP application server) and BEA WebLogic Network Gatekeeper (a policy enforcement and telecommunications Web services platform).

Support for these products will help service providers set up new, revenue-generating applications faster and with optimal performance and security by eliminating traffic surges, bottlenecks and disconnects.

“The BEA WebLogic Communications Platform product family is designed to enable service providers with the ability to leverage the Web, telecommunications and SOA to rapidly create and deliver converged Internet-communication services,” said Mike McHugh, vice president of engineering at BEA Systems’ (News - Alert) communication platform division, in a statement.

McHugh continued: “Radware's increased activity in the telecommunications space and its core strengths in IT application delivery and security make them a strong partner, providing joint customers increased opportunities to deliver innovative, revenue-generating applications and services in a secure and stable networking environment.”

Radware and BEA now offer an integrated service provider solution that is secure, scalable and delivers high-availability. The service is designed to allow excellent call capacity and performance using the BEA Weblogic SIP server and Radware’s AppDirector’s SIP-aware load-balancing and intelligent traffic distribution technology.

The solution can further improved to a higher capacity by the aggregation of additional AppDirector ADC and BEA WebLogic SIP Server nodes, and in turn providing unlimited scalability and maximum performance to service providers’ SIP service deployments. Radware's AppDirector also provides high availability, performance and security to BEA WebLogic Network Gatekeeper.

“Expanding our partnership with BEA has been a critical step in Radware's partner initiatives; especially in the telecommunications arena where we are expanding product lines and aggressively looking to grow our business,” said Yossi Vardi, vice president or global business development at Radware, in a statement.

Vardi continued: “Our AppDirector is optimized to empower BEA customers to harness the unique, converged application delivery opportunities available; designed to ensure best performance and growth both today, and in the future.”

BEA Systems and Radware conducted complete interoperability testing in creating the new joint solution.
