RAD Data Communications (News - Alert) plans to unveil its “reliable, economical, accountable and limitless” (REAL) Carrier Ethernet

access solutions at the Carrier Ethernet Services conference (April 7-9 in Vienna) and the Ethernet Expo (April 14-16 in London).
RAD’s REAL Carrier Ethernet access solutions are based on the company’s EtherAccess feature set for intelligent demarcation devices. REAL Carrier Ethernet access empowers service providers and their customers with the ability to deploy Ethernet services over any network infrastructure while also offering end-to-end Ethernet measurement and performance mechanisms.
“Service providers are now offering structured Ethernet service packages based on a mix of verifiable performance parameters,” notes Ron Agam, Senior Product Line Manager for Metro Ethernet Access Solutions at RAD Data Communications (News - Alert), in a Monday statement. “These must be supported with the same user experience across a full gamut of diverse media: copper, DSL

, fiber, and wireless.” A lack of consistent performance can make the difference between driving revenues and driving away business.
EMEA carriers around the world have deployed RAD’s EtherAccess product line, including Completel, Interroute, Telekom Austria , and Bezeq (News - Alert). North American carriers have also adopted the technology, as well as Canada’s Telus.
“The complexity of Ethernet service deployment is growing exponentially,” explains Michael Howard, Chief Analyst at Infonetics Research (News - Alert), in Monday’s statement. “Both end users and operators require clear visibility into network traffic patterns starting from the customer’s access point, and operators have to be able to control this traffic to deliver on their Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for a mix of applications.”
“When offering Ethernet services, it is important for carriers to be able to provide business customers with the same reach that they would otherwise enjoy over SDH/SONET

and PDH,” Agam concluded. “This is easily achieved when an Ethernet leased line can begin over DSL and terminate over fiber.”
Privately owned since its establishment in 1981, RAD Data Communications has achieved international recognition as a major manufacturer of high quality access equipment for data communications and telecommunications applications.
Access availability and reach are essential elements that business customers are seeking in their communications solutions. By launching the REAL Carrier Ethernet Access solutions, RAD is better equipping service providers with the offerings they need to appeal to a wider base. As such, they will be better positioned to drive adoption and additional revenues over the long term.
