Though communications technology and telecom have taken leaps and bounds forward in recent years – bolstered by the rise of Internet-based phone calling, or Voice over IP – the audio quality of conversations, ironically, has probably taken a step back, according to an official with a subsidiary of a Fairport, N.Y.-based company that provides data, voice and Internet solutions to business-class customers.

The first AT&T Chinese-bilingual store is reportedly decorating the heart of New York's Chinatown. The telecom giant took this initiative to meet the growing demand for advanced wireless data products and services in the Chinese-American community. The new store is located at 260 Canal Street between Broadway and Lafayette Street. It is reportedly the first AT&T operated store in the country to feature a Chinese-bilingual retail concept.



Verizon Business and Akamai Technologies reportedly strengthened the security and performance of the official Web site for the 5th Hong Kong 2009 East Asian Games that are currently taking place in Hong Kong. In addition to on-demand downloads in near-real time, visitors to the Web site also have access to an array of interactive content such as game results, highlighted photos and schedules.



Vlingo Corporation, a developer of mobile voice applicationa, has reportedly launched Vlingo 4.0 Plus, featuring “Vlingo Everywhere.”



Jenzabar, a company that focuses on selling software to the higher education market, has reportedly announced new integrated services with Docufide, a vendor of educational records delivery and management. Client institutions can now use Docufide’s services to receive electronic transcripts, as well as capture student, alumni and staff-initiated transcript requests, Jenzabar officials say, adding that customers can also use the service to deliver transcripts or other documents electronically.
