Positron Access, a provider of asymmetric/symmetric MIMO-on-DMT (News - Alert) technology, announced its continuous advancement in helping Sacred Wind Communications extend its broadband services.
The company achieved this advancement by introducing two new products, the AK5RS eight pair repeater and the AK5NTE, complimenting their widely deployed Carrier Ethernet AK5000 product family.
Sacred Wind Communications is a privately owned New Mexico-based company, dedicated to improving telecommunications services to rural areas within New Mexico.
“Positron is pleased to offer Sacred Wind a sensible and straightforward long-reach DSLAM backhaul solution compatible with a wide array of DSLAMs/BDLCs,” said Hossam Salib, vice president of marketing for Positron, in a statement.
“The asymmetric nature of DSLAM data traffic where download capacity is at a premium, is well served by the unique asymmetric capability of the Aktino (News - Alert) solution,” Salib added. “Sacred Wind can now cost-effectively and efficiently offer high bandwidth premium services to previously un-served and underserved remote customers.”
The AK5NTE network termination equipment is a self-contained local or line powered unit built in an environmentally hardened enclosure, company officials said.
The AK5RS and AK5NTE can be deployed in remote locations where space is a constraint or in applications where the cabinet is sealed, supporting a variety of field installations, including pole, wall and floor mount.
Company officials say both products were tested to meet Telcordia’s GR-487 requirements and comply with the applicable MEF (News - Alert) standards.
With Positron’s environmentally hardened line powered AK5RS eight pair repeater, Sacred Wind is able to deliver premium high bandwidth ADSL services to more Navajo community SOHO customers with minimum capital expenditure.
The AK5RS eight pair repeater extends 50+ Mbps beyond 26 Kft to remote locations over copper, thanks to Positron’s patented MIMO-on-DMT technology in both downstream and upstream directions.
According to company officials, to serve the same distance competing solutions require many repeaters, which increase the operational and maintenance costs of the service provider.
“Positron’s AK525 bonded-copper product combined with the AK5RS repeater is the only reliable solution to reach our long distance remote DSLAMs with only one repeater,” said Ben Romero, Network VP for Sacred Wind Communications, in a statement.
“In addition, the Aktino solution is spectrally friendly to our revenue generating ADSL/VDSL services,” Romero added. “There is no need to segregate or manage services on our copper plant, as required with other bonded-copper solutions. It adds up to simplifying installations and lowering cost operations.”
Earlier in May Datavo, a competitive local exchange carrier, picked Positron Access’s Aktino product family to deliver true broadband integrated data and voice services, TMCnet reported.
