Not only does Airband Communications (News - Alert), Inc. boast a vast portfolio of high-speed Internet access, data services, VoIP, security and other managed solutions, but the company is also known for being one of the largest fixed-wireless voice and data providers in the US.
The company is so influential in fact, that for the fourth consecutive year, FOX Sports chose Airband’s fixed-wireless data services to connect production staff at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway to their home studio in Los Angeles.
“Airband has proven that their fixed-wireless network and team of experienced professionals reliably delivers results to support our Las Vegas NASCAR coverage each year,” said Greg Summers, director of technical operations at FOX Networks Group. “We need a local, cost-effective, high-speed Internet provider who can rapidly deploy the bandwidth our team needs to operate and Airband’s team had the speed and flexibility to meet our needs.”
According to the release, Airband delivered bandwidth to FOX Sports utilizing its stand-alone fixed-wireless tower at the speedway for FOX Sports production trailers. Airband’s fixed-wireless network provides reliable, high-speed Internet access that can be rapidly deployed for short-term events, and at an affordable price. Airband, which provides coverage for the entire Las Vegas valley, frequently supplies wireless bandwidth for hospitality venues and special events using a mobile unit where high-speed data connections need to be delivered quickly.
Airband, located in Dallas, Texas, also recently announced its decision to merge with Sparkplug (News - Alert) Communications.
Airband provides connectivity for a number of different kinds of businesses ranging from call centers to construction sites. Whether the company needs Internet for six months or 10 years, Airband provides the flexibility and scalability to adhere to any environment.
In February, Airband also announced a partnership with Extended Stay Hotels, to provide its wireless high-speed Internet connection to a number of its participating hotels such as Marriot, Hilton and Hyatt.
Airband provides connectivity to verticals such as retail, healthcare and is starting to move into providing access to Universities as well.
Michael Ruley (News - Alert), CEO of Airband, exclusively told TMCnet that the company’s secret sauce is in owning its own network. Ruley explained that by having your own network, you avoid the risk of bottlenecks and day to day frustrations that can occur.
In the near future, Ruley says Airband anticipates expansion through future mergers with other companies which will help Airband to create a bigger footprint in the market. Though the company already has a large presence in the Southwest, Airband hopes to become a nationwide player expanding its coverage and capacity across the U.S. He also notes that in the long term, he hopes to see more Voice capabilities integrated into the company’s offerings as almost 50 percent of the deals the company sees today have some kind of voice component.
