Even in what's emerged as the toughest economy in decades, there are some companies still going the extra mile to create an atmosphere of cohesion and cooperation within their workforces.
And apparently telecommunications player PAETEC Holding Corp. has moved beyond being just a pretty good place to work, incorporating a set of deep-rooted values that motors the company to deliver personalized communications solutions and services to business-class customers in more than 83 of the nation's top 100 metropolitan areas.
The Fairport, N.Y.-based company, a provider of data, voice and Internet solutions to business-class customers nationwide, rounded out the top 10 Best Companies to Work For in New York State for 2009, ranking number 10 in the large company category.
"PAETEC (News - Alert) has long held the belief that satisfied employees will ultimately be more productive and better serve our customers,” said Arunas Chesonis, PAETEC's chairman and CEO. This recognition as a Best Company to work for in New York validates our unique culture.”
And that culture is based on four values which permeate the organization, according to Chesonis: Caring Culture, Open Communication, Unmatched Service and Personalized Solutions.
The state-wide rankings are performed by the New York State Society for Human Resource Management. Companies are selected based on an assessment of the employee policies and procedures, as well as results of an internal employee survey conducted by the Best Companies Group. Winners were selected in two categories: small and medium-sized companies of 15 to249 employees, and large-sized companies of 250 employees or more.
It is obvious Chesonis takes PAETEC’s corporate culture very seriously. The CEO has co-authored a book that highlights PAETEC's unique workplace. The book is titled “It Isn't Just Business, It's Personal.”
Chesonis notes that by adhering to these values, PAETEC has rapidly grown into one of the largest communication providers in the nation.
Founded in 1998, the company is considered the premier alternative to the ILECs based on its nationwide footprint, breadth of products, and quality of service.
"There's over a half-million businesses in New York State, and we're honored to be included in this list of top workplaces," said Arunas Chesonis, PAETEC's chairman and CEO.
