Sidera Networks, provider of fiber optic-based network solutions, has enhanced its Switched Ethernet service by offering three Class of Service (CoS) options with guaranteed service levels.
According to officials, these three CoS options will enable customers to prioritize traffic in the Sidera network. This latest enhancement is expected to deliver end-to-end performance based on low latency, jitter and availability characteristics.
“The new Class of Service options give customers the flexibility to choose the appropriate priority for their traffic,” said Mike Sicoli, CEO, Sidera Networks (News - Alert).
Leveraging quality of service (QoS) technology, the company tags and moves data securely through its high-capacity network. Company officials said that QoS defines prioritization capabilities to give precedence to time-sensitive applications, including streaming video, voice, and high frequency trading over those applications such as time sensitive email and data archiving,
To deliver a fully restorable and easily managed network service, Sidera’s Ethernet service integrates the reliability and ubiquity of Ethernet with next-generation metro area transport technology, company officials said.
The company’s Ethernet service features point-to-point, point-to-multipoint and multipoint-to-multipoint solutions, enabling customers to seamlessly extend their Ethernet network both within a metro area and around the globe.
Additionally, Sidera Networks and Exponential-e, one of the UK’s most innovative Ethernet Service Providers, have forged a strategic alliance to expand each other’s network reach and access to the world’s prominent financial centers. Through this alliance, Sidera plans to expand its connectivity to key financial hubs throughout the United Kingdom. Exponential-e expects to expand its US market presence with direct, low-latency connectivity to the New York and Chicago metro areas.
