Fujitsu (News - Alert), a provider of information and communication technology (ICT)-based business solutions, asserted that Ethernet-over-Anything (EoX) Technology has been integrated with the products of its Access portfolio. The products can now be used to offer Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF (News - Alert))-compliant Ethernet services across various transport networks.
Fujitsu EoX technology creates a single, coherent, secure network, allowing Ethernet services to be delivered whenever and wherever they are needed. The technology was first employed in Fujitsu FLASHWAVE 9500 Packet Optical Networking Platform (Packet ONP) and now it has been expanded to the access portfolio.
Fujitsu Access supposedly blends the knowledge of a communication system and high-speed metallic transmission technology, optical transmission technology, and the Internet technology, and provides the communication entrepreneur with the latest broadband access system. The newly announced end-to-end EoX offering would let customers enjoy a HQ consistent Ethernet service experience regardless of the underlying transport technology. The EoX technology also helps the Ethernet services to be brought to areas that were deemed out-of-reach and removes quality disparities caused by different transport technologies.
The new or significantly enhanced Fujitsu EoX access solutions are: FLASHWAVE CDS Micro Packet ONP; FLASHWAVE 9410 Ethernet Access Platform; and the FLASHWAVE 9420 Ethernet Access Platform. The solutions that are newly integrated with EoX tech are: FLASHWAVE 7120 Micro Packet ONP; FLASHWAVE 4100 ES Micro Packet ONP; and more.
Officials with the company ascertained that the newly announced EoX addition is a huge step toward achieving the mass-market Ethernet services that end users are demanding. With Fujitsu’s EoX solutions now extending to the access network infrastructure, ubiquitous Ethernet services can be deployed across SONET, wavelengths, PDH, copper, or directly over fiber using MEF-compliant service definitions. This enables customers to deliver a standard set of Ethernet services using whatever transport network that is most cost effective for them which, in turn, gives their end users a consistent Ethernet experience. This flexibility will enable them to bring new, MEF-compliant Ethernet services to market more quickly.
