Wavelink Corporation has unveiled a telecom expense monitor (TEM) which the company says businesses can use to analyze usage patterns so they can reduce their telecom expenses for mobile devices.
The company said users and network administrators can also get alerts when devices are about to incur higher costs associated with roaming, plan overages, large data transfers and changing usage patterns.
Known as ‘Avalanche Expense Management,’ the monitor reports and analyzes voice, SMS and roaming usage, and helps businesses get real-time data on network and data usage and proactively manage their telecom and wireless costs.
"Telecom expenses are difficult to manage because costs can vary based on monthly usage, but IT departments are still responsible for meeting a fixed budget," said Stephen Bemis, Wavelink vice president of worldwide sales.
More than anything else, the monitor allows users to prevent unnecessary expenses. The best part is that it typically pays for itself within the first month just from eliminating carrier overage charges.
Users are able to easily monitor their own data, voice and text usage on their device with a quick summary as well as the ability to drill down on specific details of their usage.
In addition, location tracking and roaming control can be used to track devices that are roaming to minimize unexpected overages as well as to locate lost or stolen devices.
Wavelink said users can also obtain the monitor as a standalone solution.
The company says more than 15,000 companies in retail, manufacturing, healthcare, government, public safety and logistics industries are using its solutions to accelerate application delivery, reduce device management and support costs, and tighten network security.
