Equinix (News
- Alert), Inc., a global provider of network neutral data center services, reported further expansion of its client portfolio for Europe and Scandinavia, with the winning of three new clients, namely Colt Technology Services, GTS Central Europe and Norway-based Broadnet.
Colt provides extensive coverage across Europe and to the U.S., while GTS strengthens Central and Eastern Europe coverage and Broadnet covers Scandinavia.
In a press release, Equinix, which operates in 38 strategic markets across the Americas, EMEA and Asia-Pacific, claimed that the recent addition of three new participants to its Equinix Carrier Ethernet Exchange (ECEE) platform, takes the total number of carriers and cloud service providers on ECEE to 55.
The Equinix Carrier Ethernet Exchange combines large scale Ethernet interconnectivity with a global ecosystem of partners and customers, including 675 operator partners, all securely housed in Equinix’s International Business Exchange (IBX) data centers. By providing scalable connectivity and secure layer 2 global Ethernet reach for its members, ECEE opens up opportunity for access to new channels of revenue.
This enables global and local service providers to collaborate easily to build end-to-end Ethernet services on demand and cater to the needs of their enterprise customers. The ECEE’s ‘one-to-many’ interconnection model allows new members to create new revenues by selling Ethernet services and connectivity to other ECEE operator members who want to extend connectivity to mainland Europe and Scandinavia. By joining the ECEE, Colt, GTS and Broadnet will gain access to an entire community of global Ethernet partners.
For Colt, the Exchange will enable seamless interconnection with Colt’s European information delivery platform, while complementing the existing E-NNI interconnections with its partners. As a net result, more Colt customers will now be able to take advantage of its high quality Carrier Ethernet services in a simple and effective way, vice president of marketing at Colt Lutz Blank maintained.
According to Jørn M.S. Slåtten, marketing manager of Broadnet, ECEE gives Broadnet a competitive edge in the international markets.
“Having joined ECEE, Broadnet is ideally positioned to capitalize on the fast-growing demand for enterprise-class global Ethernet services,” Slåtten commented in a statement.
Earlier this month, Equinix announced that it has entered into a $150 million unsecured revolving credit facility. The revolver, which has a five-year maturity to September 2016, allows for borrowing, repayments and re-borrowing over the entire five-year term and provides a sublimit within the revolver for the issuance of letters of credit of up to $100 million and swing line borrowings of up to $25 million.
