The News Goes Social, Comunitee.Com Offers a Social News Network

By Arvind Arora, TMCnet Contributor

Social media has gained a strong position online owing to the strong adoption by huge numbers of users from every part of the globe. A big percentage of this user base keeps a close eye upon the latest news content of its choice and interest, and is eager to share it with friends immediately.

Comunitee.com, a recently introduced social news network assures the users to establish a seamless integration between news consumption and social networking, which might prove to be of great help in gathering all the news content relevant to them. Further, they can share these news articles with their friends or colleagues with the same sets of interests and likes. This is the first social news network in true sense of the word, and has been launched in its Beta version with an aim to provide the users with a convenient way of finding, reading, sharing and discussing relevant news topics with their group of friends.

The word ‘Comunitee’ has been developed by mashing the words ‘community’ and ‘committee’ up together, which emphasizes that the core motto of the network is to offer delivery and unbarred flow of customized news content among Comunitee members. The service features a newsfeed that tracks the stuff being read by the user, and automatically customizes the news content according to the common interests of the user and his friends. It enables a seamless approach to share the commonly liked news articles with each other within the whole Comunitee. The service aggregates a huge number of newsfeeds within 10 different categories, and sources the news content from a wide range of websites such as CNN and Popular Photography Magazine.

No outside editor selects the news offered to different ‘Comunitees,’ and the service automatically selects the news content in a totally organic manner on the basis of continuously changing reading patterns and choices of a certain ‘Comunitee.’

According to an estimate, around 77 percent American readers prefer to access news content through their mobile devices or Internet connected computers. Still, a big number of them finds it really difficult and effort intensive to gather the latest news upon their favorite topics and interests.

“People don’t realize how many different places they go to find relevant news stories they actually care about, or how much time it takes to sift through the news items on each site, let alone try to share them with friends,” commented Don Daszkowski, co-founder and chief executive officer at Comunitee. “The average news article now has four or five different ‘sharing’ options. We have created a universal platform that not only provides the news content but also organically shares it with your friends and followers.”

Recently this month, Flud platform was launched to enable the news enthusiasts of all types to create their own news personalities in the update. Flud is an information ecosystem where the audience is empowered to influence the news. The next generation of Flud's mobile application brings a social element to its enticing platform for news consumption, under which the ‘Fluders’ can recommend content to their community, discover new information and sources from friends, follow trends, and create their own informative front page.
