Cbeyond (News
- Alert), a provider of IT and communications services to small businesses, announced that its Louisville data center is operating under Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) 16 Type ll SOC 2 certified controls.
The successful audit has enabled Cbeyond to become one of the first cloud providers to receive such certification. SSAE 16 SOC 2, the second-generation data center audit standard, evaluates design and operational effectiveness of a center’s controls against a strict series of international standards.
Leveraging the SSAE 16 certification, Cbeyond customers can ensure that it Cloud Services are fully compliant with all necessary security and privacy specifications, and demonstrates that its customers are served and hosted in a highly secure, controlled facility.
“Our customers trust our ability to protect their critical data at all times,” said Stacy Griggs, senior director of customer experience for Cbeyond Cloud Services, in a statement.
“Becoming one of the first companies in our industry to receive SSAE 16 certification demonstrates our commitment to better serving our customers by investing in technology, and achieving full compliance through a secure, reliable and controlled data center,” Griggs added.
The successful completion of the audit also provides Cbeyond full insight into the people and procedures responsible for successful data center controls.
Earlier this year, SSAE 16 SOC 2 reports replaced SAS (News - Alert) 70 Type II audits as the benchmark compliance report for organizations impacted by privacy and security regulations such as HIPAA, PCI and SOX.
Thanks to the new standards, Cbeyond completed and submitted a written assessment of the operating effectiveness and suitability of its controls, which was analyzed by auditors Ernst & Young for its accuracy and adherence.
Recently, Cbeyond announced that Ben Nesvig of Fuzed Marketing is the winner of its social media contest, which encouraged participants to post tweets on the benefits of small businesses moving to the cloud.
