Axesstel's Wi-Fi Gateway Compatible with Verizon 3G Network

By Shamila Janakiraman, TMCnet Contributor

Verizon Wireless reportedly announced that Axesstel, Inc.’s MV440 CDMA 1xEV-DO Rev.A Wi-Fi Gateway has been approved to run on Verizon Wireless 3G data network in the U.S. through the open development program. Axesstel (News - Alert) specializes in the design and development of fixed wireless voice and broadband data products.

Axesstel’s gateway incorporates a 3G WWAN modem, Wi-Fi WLAN router and a four-port Ethernet switch which will allow users to access Internet, email, data intensive files and multimedia streaming at high speeds in a plug-and-play desktop networking device.
Anthony A. Lewis, vice president of open development for Verizon (News - Alert) Wireless, said that Verizon Wireless’ open development program encourages the design of devices to give customers new wireless choices and bring them to the marketplace on the Verizon Wireless network.

“We are proud to have been approved for network use through Verizon Wireless’ open development program,” said Clark Hickock, CEO for Axesstel, in a statement. “While this is a rigorous testing process, it also provides a faster, more streamlined process to bring products to market. Now our MV440 Gateway (News - Alert) is available to any user who wants to utilize Verizon Wireless’ vast 3G mobile broadband network.”

Hickock also said that small office home offices, merchants, small and medium businesses, customers needing security monitoring and transportation companies will benefit from the features of the high speed network.

The MV440 is a reliable and user friendly integrated platform, which is an ideal device for mobile broadband router solutions. It provides primary connection as an alternative to wireline services besides providing a backup connection in cases of emergencies. The MV400 Series Wi-Fi Gateways will be followed by more fixed wireless devices through the Verizon open development program, Hickock said.

Verizon Wireless initiated the open development program for promoting innovation and also to give customers choices in wireless devices. This will expand the wireless market, besides providing full-service offerings for business and consumer customers.

Axesstel’s product portfolio includes broadband modems, 3G gateways, machine to machine applications, voice/data terminals, fixed wireless desktop phones and public call office phones for high-speed data and voice calling services. The firm delivers fixed wireless solutions to telecommunications operators and distributors.
