Healthcare can't progress very far without communications tools, and that means a clear place going forward for communications applications developers to step in and provide new options for keeping those healthcare operations connected to where they need to be connected. Recently, PokitDok landed a new accreditation with both the Outsourced Services Accreditation Program (OSAP) for Health Information Exchange (HIE) and the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission's (EHNAC) Cloud-Enabled Accreditation Program (CEAP).

With these new accreditations in place, PokitDok makes it clear that it's a valuable point in the healthcare communications applications developer field. With the OSAP accreditation on hand, PokitDok lands a specific nod in both health data processing as well as in data transactions. It also proves compliance with a host of industry regulations, including but not limited to HIPAA. PokitDok was specifically evaluated on several points as part of the OSAP accreditation program, including its overall capability in privacy and security, as well as the company's business practices and several other fields.

Meanwhile, CEAP is geared more toward those users of the FedRAMP-certified cloud service provider (CSP (News - Alert)), and doesn't focus particularly on what model of data exchange that CSP uses. CEAP is evaluated on some measures that the OSAP process uses, but also some distinct points like technical performance and resource management. The CEAP accreditation uses 74 specific points of evaluation, so the results are quite thorough.

PokitDok's CEO and co-founder Lisa Maki commented, “EHNAC is a leading authority for developing operational and security standards in the healthcare industry. The burden is lifted for our customers as they look to adopt cloud-based technologies to deliver digital health experiences with operational efficiency. They have the confidence that we meet rigorous security, compliance and regulatory requirements and that we’re certified as a trusted steward of health information.”

Information in the healthcare field is vital to continued operation; whether it's a matter of keeping track of a patient's previous ailments to find a pattern for future potential problems or track down a potential reason for current woes, information is the key to making these analyses happen. Thus, being able to readily transmit this information is a job communications applications developers are uniquely suited to handle, though not without substantial attention rendered to security and privacy, both as a matter of law and as a matter of proper customer service. PokitDok's new accreditations will likely help it in the field, as it's publicly demonstrated the level of protection it can put behind its communications.

This is good news not only for PokitDok, which may have opened up some new client fields, but also for those who want to bolster communications capabilities in the field. With PokitDok, these functions can be carried out more readily...and more safely, too.
