ZipRecruiter Selects Bandwidth's Messaging Communications Applications

Bringing together tens of millions of jobseekers with hundreds of thousands of companies is a formidable feat, and ZipRecruiter has been doing it for the past seven years. In order to address the engagement of its growing user base, the company has been looking at a scalable solution that doesn't place any limitations on the new SMS Job Alerts service it is deploying. The company it has selected to make this possible is Bandwidth (News - Alert), which will give ZipRecruiter an API for communications applications that will allow it to quickly integrate messaging easily and cost-effectively for the new service.

Bandwidth provides business-grade CPaaS (communications platform as a service) using the nation's largest carrier VoIP network so it can create communications applications with embedded voice and text for mobile apps and large-scale enterprise level solutions. The APIs the company provides make it possible to launch and scale next generation apps and solutions built on Bandwidth's carrier grade network with easy access to phone number provisioning, voice calling, messaging and emergency services.

Emails get lost in folders that never get opened, buried in inboxes, or immediately forgotten. Text messages have a higher open rate, and availability anywhere—users don’t need to be monitoring their inboxes or the ZipRecruiter app to jump on the latest opportunity,” said Jeff Zwelling, COO of ZipRecruiter.

The decision to choose Bandwidth was first based on the scalability the company provides with its own nationwide VoIP network. Addressing this particular issue, Zwelling said, “With our original provider, we knew scalability was going to be an issue. Bandwidth was able to support our high volume of users, without impacting deliverability or our bottom line.”

In addition to scalability, the communication applications allow ZipRecruiter to cut out unnecessary layers of complexity and grow adoption at an even faster rate because Bandwidth’s APIs are built atop its own network.

Users of the SMS Job Alerts can apply for a job directly through SMS, but they will also get notifications about new job availability and the moment a hiring manager views their applications.
