Companies Increasingly Relying On Communications Applications

Last week, Research and Markets released a new report titled “Team Chat: The New Unified Communications (News - Alert)?” The report detailed the new and different ways that businesses communicate with each other, and discussed the recent rise of communication applications.
Once a staple of the office routine, this report found that email communication is quickly falling by the wayside. In its place, we are seeing the rise of team chat and messaging apps. These applications offer several advantages over the older style of email. First of all, they are more mobile friendly, and also instant: users do not have to wait for data pushes to receive new messages. These apps also lend themselves to team-oriented communications much more than email does. They allow for the quick and easy formation of groups, making it easy for people collaborating on a given project to share ideas, images, drawings, or any other information that might be helpful to the project.
Another thing that makes these team chat communications apps so popular is that they tend to combine the best aspects of other communications apps into a single, easy to use platform. Between the text-based messaging of Skype (News - Alert) and Slack along with voice and video calls and screen sharing capabilities, these applications are becoming more of a one-stop shop for online meetings, all while being able to exist on desktop computers, mobile phones and tablets. More and more businesses will be gravitating to these apps as they continue to make functions available that users want but previously had been forced to get from a number of different applications.
At the end of the day, businesses everywhere are becoming more mobile while at the same time drifting towards more collaboration. In order to make both of these things work at the same time, businesses need to be able to have their employees communicate with anyone from anywhere, and do so in a way that allows them to share the same information regardless of whether they are in the same building or on the other side of the world. The use of communications applications like these will thus be critical to business development in the future.
