Video is now as important as voice communications, and developers want platforms that allow them to easily integrate video into the communications applications they create. The launch of the Vidyo (News - Alert).io Communications Platform-as-a-Service (CPaaS) developer platform by Vidyo makes it possible to enable video in any application and virtually any device. This is especially important as mobile video becomes a key component in enterprise communications. The platform was recognized by Gartner (News - Alert), and the firm has included Vidyo.io in its 2017 Market Guide for Communications Platform-as-a-Service.

With Vidyo.io, developers can create communications applications and enable video with cloud-hosted, high-quality, dependable and enterprise-grade multiparty video collaboration technology quickly and easily. The CPaaS brings together business processes and communication technologies so devops teams can get rid of the upfront costs associated with traditional video solutions with heavy reliance on hardware and propriety systems.

The Vidyo.io platform provides the same high-quality used in enterprises with video enabled CPaaS designed to deliver high performance over mobile devices and the public Internet.

Regarding the benefits of CPaaS and communications applications, Gartner says, “CPaaS represents a new technology and business model for communicating person to person and device to device (Internet of Things [IoT]). It can enable innovative business solutions for communicating with customers and employees, and connecting operational systems and devices. CPaaS can significantly reduce costs for many enterprises.”

One of the challenges the Communications Platform-as-a-Service segment faces when it comes to video communications is the lack of uniformity and quality of service over mobile devices and the public Internet. Low video quality with lag, dropped calls, poor visual fidelity and poor user experience is generally a problem. Vidyo has more than 120 patents, some of which are designed specifically to create streams that run smoothly and clearly even when users are connecting over low bandwidth and variable Wi-Fi connections.

“Across industries, cost-effective, scalable, high-quality mobile video collaboration is helping everyone to simply do more with less. This is the year when real-time video, as the richest communication medium there is, really begins to shine on the CPaaS stage. Organizations turn to Vidyo when quality matters, and today that increasingly includes reliability and dependability over mobile,” said Vidyo CEO Eran Westman.

Developers can now take advantage of the Vidyo.io CPaaS and the many patented Vidyo technologies to deliver video communications applications with scalable user experience from anywhere. In addition to being mentioned in the 2017 Market Guide for Communications Platform-as-a-Service, Gartner has also placed Vidyo a leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for group video systems for the second year in a row last July.
