From the enterprise to SMB, real time applications are making their mark. The innovator sandbox is filled with a complete armory of tools capable of creating the next generation of communications applications. Innovation in areas like the cloud, WebRTC, virtualization and more is making this an exciting time to be in technology. And with the weekend upon us, there’s no better time than the present to take a look at the week that was in communications applications: Time for the Week in Review!

A key cog in the wheel of innovation is the API. APIs are not new, however, in recent years have been garnering added attention. This week, TMC’s Paula Bernier (News - Alert) sized up the telecom API business. MarketsandMarkets notes the market will balloon from the $93.69 billion in 2016 to over $230 billion by 2021. See what Bernier has to say HERE.

It’s no surprise the face of communication and collaboration is changing, as a recent report from Research and Markets “Team Chat: The New Unified Communications” revealed a growing reliance on communication applications. TMC’s (News - Alert) Andrew Bindelglass breaks down the report HERE.

Back in January, Vidyo released its CPaaS, and it’s been quite well received. The Communications Platform-as-a-Service (CPaaS) is empowering developers to create high-quality, enterprise-grade multiparty video collaboration applications quickly and easily. The CPaaS was even included in Gartner’s (News - Alert) 2017 Market Guide for Communications Platform-as-a-Service. TMC’s Frank Griffin gives you everything you need to know HERE.

This month queues the beginning of Google’s (News - Alert) Chrome 57 rollout, and at first glance appears to be all about the API. Aside from API enhancements, the rollout includes CSS (News - Alert) Grid Layout and a slew of tools for developers. However, according to TMC’s Paula Bernier, the updated chrome is causing issues for developers. She makes her case HERE.

The Communications Applications community wants to hear from you! If you are working on an interesting project, dabbling in bleeding edge tech or just have something to say on the state of communications development, we welcome and value your input!

Remember to stop by early and often for your fill of all things communications development! See you next week!
