Mavenir RCS Hub Delivers Communications Applications for Operators

Communications Service Providers (CSPs) want to be able to provide the widest range of services for their customers, but the cost of the infrastructure needed to make it happen is not always possible. Rich Communication Services (RCS) is one example, as it takes a lot of planning and investment to build out a RCS ecosystem and network. The new Mavenir RCS Cloud Platform is going to remove these obstacles by providing a RCS Platform and a Global RCS Interconnection Hub to enable operators around the world to create communications applications for RCS.

Mavenir is a company that has unified Mitel Mobile, Xura (News - Alert), Ranzure Networks, and the technology they bring in their respective industries to become a leading provider of cloud-proven networking solutions. The company enables service providers with a comprehensive product portfolio that accelerates their network transformation across every layer of the network infrastructure stack. Mavenir now serves more than 350 organizations and their 3.5 billion subscribers with industry first VoLTE, VoWi-Fi, advanced messaging, visual voicemail and Cloud RAN solutions.

The new RCS Platform and Hub will make it possible to deploy secure and advanced communications without the capital and operational expenditure of large-scale network infrastructure projects. This platform can be deployed in the operator's network, hosted by Mavenir or a combination of both as a hybrid model so CSPs can choose the functionality that best suits their operational requirements.

Pardeep Kohli, President and CEO at Mavenir, said the cost factor was an important issue. He said, “We’ve listened to our service provider customers across the world who want a new approach to RCS, something that lowers the barriers to entry, enables faster deployment options and drives new monetization opportunities.”

Service providers will be able to create communication applications with rich communication services that can be monetized with an open environment to leverage the current innovations taking place in the industry. The CSPs will have the infrastructure to deploy emerging RCS with rollouts of new monetization channels, including the beginning of Internet of Things (IoT) and 5G network traffic support, communications applications for enterprise application to person (A2P) flows, dynamic mobile marketing and chatbot frameworks.

Kholi added, “Our RCS Platform and Hub can meet CSPs advanced communications requirements, where we can connect them to other service providers and ultimately to billions of subscribers, without the efforts of building out their own networks. One of our strategies is to enable connectivity of SMSC and MMSC to our cloud-based RCS Hub for convergence and backward compatibility.”

The Mavenir RCS Cloud Platform will let CSPs have more control; reduce time to market of new services from months to weeks for full suites of RCS services; access more monetization opportunities; and open an interoperable RCS ecosystem not ruled by third party providers.
