The growth of video communications is expected to increase by 400 percent by 2019, this according to a report by Gartner (News - Alert). One of the biggest drivers for this growth is the collaborative movement that is currently taking place in today's workforce, which is being deployed by businesses small and large to communicate with their employees, partners and vendors with more efficiency through conferencing with video communications applications. As more organizations adopt these technologies, they need more features to integrate available solutions in the marketplace. Cisco (News - Alert) is addressing this issue with a recently announced upgrade to Spark, the company's cloud-based conferencing platform in the Asian market, along with Cisco Spark Board, a new plug-and-play, all-in-one device for team collaboration.

Cisco Spark is a communications applications delivered through a cloud-based service designed to provide a comprehensive collaboration suite so teams from an organization can in one continuous workstream create, meet, message, call, care, whiteboard, and share, no matter where they are before, during and after meetings. This type of accessibility and integration is making it possible for organizations in the Asia-Pacific region to more effectively communicate with readily available resources.

The new upgrades include an interface that simplifies the platform with more features and connectivity to Cisco's portfolio of telephony systems, WebEx meeting and video conferencing solutions. Spark brings together the fragmented technologies in the segment, such as live chat, video, VoIP calls, voice messaging into one solution so organizations can start communicating out of the box immediately.

“The workplace of the future is here. We are changing the way we work, for good, and for the better. Switching, swiping and scouring between your apps or desktop is now a thing of the past; Cisco Spark can do everything, from one place, with one click. Asia’s businesses are about to get a huge productivity boost,” said Darryl McKinnon, Managing Director, Collaboration Sales, Asia Pacific, Cisco.

In addressing the needs of the Asian market, the company said Spark delivers a powerful enterprise solution for many of the geographically dispersed businesses with a platform that can be installed easily and provide secure communications applications. Spark secures communications with enterprise level end-to-end encryption to ensure the data is protected during transit so it won't fall victim to man-in-the-middle attacks.

Spark also has customer support capability so help desks and small teams can provide connected digital experiences to deliver contextual and continuous journeys to external or internal customers.

The Cisco Spark Board is a plug-and-play, all-in-one device for team collaboration with wireless presentation capability that supports whiteboard, and video or audio conference without having to be present in the conference room. It is available in 55 and 70 inch screen sizes for the Asian market with monthly subscription.
