Dialogic Enhances BorderNet SBC to Support Communications Applications

In the business of building and supporting communications applications, the back end plays as large a role as the user interface. Infrastructure determines quality of performance, and as innovation continues to serve as the straw that stirs the drink, much infrastructure has migrated from rigid physical components to a software-centric model, with the cloud playing a key role. Today, Dialogic announced enhancements to its software-centric session border controller (SBC), BorderNet.
Included in the new 3.6.0 release are advanced analytics, additional codecs, SIP trunking SIPconnect 2.0 support, high density transcoding, lawful intercept support as well as advanced analytics. The Dialogic (News - Alert) BorderNet SBC touts a new type of infrastructure, which is capable of utilizing de-coupled analytics to monitor both appliance-based and virtual solutions.
“Real-time analytics plays a key role in helping operators and enterprises gain actionable information on service performance and to help alleviate fraud,” said Jim Machi, Senior VP of Product Management and Marketing at Dialogic. “The embedded analytic tool capabilities provide higher scale, greater flexibility, and more reliable and persistent analytics for virtual and hardware-based instances of BorderNet SBC.”
The BorderNet SBC adds revenue opportunity via its media transcoding – both software and hardware-based – in addition to enterprise VoIP support, Cloud and virtualization enhancements. The new release offers optimal efficiency in the usage of virtual resources for cloud-based or NFV applications, and easily distributes traffic among virtual resources – avoiding classic overload scenarios. Also, I’d be remiss in not mentioning its improved scalability, in spite of types of traffic.
While the SBC may be an often overlooked component, it is critical to application and network performance. From OTT to enterprise applications, the market is growing parallel to innovation, with the future only limited by creativity and performance only curtailed by components.
