Digital Transformation is driving change through innovation, simplifying complexity, and creating the next generation of communications applications. Development in WebRTC, the cloud, virtualization and more is creating a boundless developer sandbox, where creativity is the only limitation. With the weekend upon us, there’s no better time than the present to take a look back at the week that was in communications applications news: Time for the Week in Review!

Pushing the boundaries of development is only one piece of the developers’ puzzle; another rather large component is security. This week, TMC’s Paula Bernier (News - Alert) broke down a recent incident where cybercriminals were sending unauthorized wire transfers using SS7 to obstruct two-factor authentication. This is one of a number of recent occurrences of SS7 playing a role in nefarious acts. Bernier brings you everything you need to know HERE.

Mashups are all the rage in communications applications, namely, mashing together features and capabilities to create a customized application fit for your need. Sinch announced its Video SDK system this week, which allows the addition of real-time video calling to your communications application. TMC’s (News - Alert) Steve Anderson has all the details HERE.

Traveling in a foreign country can prove quite challenging at times. From a different, confusing currency, or new city to a language barrier, the learning curve can be steep. One market is attempting to aid in this struggle, as Didi Chuxing – one of China’s largest e-taxi firms –not only merged with Uber’s Chinese operations, but is putting new translation tools to work for riders as to promote international travel interest. Complete coverage is HERE.

With all the exciting new features on the front end of modern communications applications, one can’t forget all the innovation taking place on the back end. This week, Dialogic (News - Alert) unveiled the newest iteration of the BorderNet SBC. The 3.6.0 release brings with it a number of enhancements that include a new infrastructure, advanced analytics, additional codecs, lawful intercept support and more. All the specs of the new releases are HERE.

The Communications Applications community wants to hear from you! If you are working on an interesting project, dabbling in bleeding edge tech or just have something to say on the state of communications development, we welcome and value your input!
