Each new development in the way we communicate removes another barrier of complexity. Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS) allows developers a complete development framework so they can add real-time communications features without having to build their own. Zang Cloud is further simplifying this process with four new features to its CPaaS by adding automatic speech recognition, SIP registration, Multimedia Messages Service (MMS) and text-to-speech enhancements.

Zang made the announcement at DeveloperWeek NY 2017, which also sponsored DeveloperWeek Hackathon. The company also challenged developers to build a notification services app that leverages IoT (Internet of Things) to drive proactive communications applications and workflows with the Zang Cloud API by offering $7,500 in prizes.

The Zang Cloud API and the recently introduced Zang Workflow are part of the company's initiative to simplify communications applications by developing tools almost anyone can use. With Workflow, Zang says it is the first in the industry to integrate an easy-to-use, drag-and-drop development tool into an all-in-one cloud communications platform without coding.

At the time of the Zang Workflow release, Davide Petramala, Executive Vice President, Zang, said, “Zang Workflow is quite simply the easiest way to build communication apps, enabling anyone— not just developers— to quickly build communication apps and workflows with simple drag-and-drop functionality. By providing dramatically simple tools and APIs that enable businesses to embed communications directly into mobile- and cloud-based applications, Zang Cloud is changing the way companies engage and communicate with customers and collaborate with each other.”

The new features will give developers and organizations more communication and collaborative tools to bring together customers and employees.

The automatic speech recognition (ASR) is able to interpret questions or comments by recognizing human speech and interacting with them. Contact centers, enterprises and organizations with IVRs can use this feature to improve automated systems for delivering better results without having to use a live agent or company representative.

The text-to-speech and Multimedia Messages Service (MMS) features add more options for the way in which companies can communicate with each other and their customers, with better translation and accurate picture or audio file correspondence.

The last feature is SIP registration for connecting SIP-enabled devices or softphones directly to Zang Cloud with multiple connectivity features using its APIs to build call-handling logic.

Zang Cloud is free to sign up and build workflows or apps. Fees are assessed when businesses use the applications to communicate.
