Buzzzz. Your phone vibrates, prompting you with the option of responding via video, audio or chat. Choose your “channel” and let the interaction ensue. This is the most generic example of a communications application I can make; all of us experience some sort of iteration of this at least once, likely far more times daily. But, this interaction must start somewhere: the network.

One firm empowering the next generation of multimedia communications applications – Dialogic (News - Alert) – earned kudos in a recent industry report, as the firm announced today HIS Markit named it the revenue market share leader for low density trunk media gateways sold to service providers for the year 2016.

“Trunk media gateways meet the customer requirements for interconnect between circuit-switched networks and SIP-based networks, including IP Multimedia Subsystem (News - Alert) (IMS), offering services such as voice over LTE (VoLTE). By addressing market requirements, Dialogic led the low density trunk media gateway market segment in 2016,” said Diane Myers, Senior Research Director, at IHS (News - Alert) Markit.

Dialogic’s IMG 2020 Integrated Media Gateway (News - Alert) provides any-to-any connectivity to power transmissions between circuit-switched and IP network for media and signaling. Also capable of supporting advanced functionality like SIP trunking and voice transcoding, the solution was deployed by a multiplicity of service providers.   

In the past calendar year, Dialogic enhanced the solution with version 2.3, which provided users with advanced management, tracking and tracing capabilities, in addition to offline configuration. Keep your eyes peeled because the expectation is that Q3 2017 will bring a new release to market set to improve upon an already award winning portfolio.

“We are pleased that the latest market reporting from IHS Technology shows that Dialogic led the low density trunk media gateway market in 2016. Dialogic has continued to invest in the IMG 2020 gateway product to enable service providers and technology partners to effectively continue their migration from PSTN to IP networks and to meet new needs such as transcoding for Voice over LTE (News - Alert) (VoLTE) networks and SIP trunking,” said Jim Machi, Senior Vice President of Product Management and Marketing at Dialogic.
