Recently, the company announced that PNE Corporation (PNE), a distributor of propane cylinders across Canada, has deployed Descartes' cloud-based route planning, optimization and mobile solution, and has enhanced efficiency as a result.

With prefilled propane cylinders, PNE's propane exchange network caters to more than 2,000 retail locations. PNE initially engaged Descartes in a consulting project to optimize master routes to support and accelerate growth. By balancing distribution territories and assets against increasing customer need to enhance service and overall margins, good results were achieved.

Part of Descartes' Routing, Mobile and Telematics suite, Route Planner On-demand is a cloud-based solution that allows users to continuously create dependable routes with the help of fewer trucks, miles and drivers. It allows PNE to optimally plan, dispatch and track the progress of the deliveries on those routes in real-time, combined with an integrated GPS-based mobile application, the company stated in a statement.

Recently, the company announced that UniGroup Worldwide, sister company of United Van Lines and Mayflower Transit, has selected Descartes' IES Forwarder Enterprise Solution to channelize shipment management across its North American operations.
