Interxion Brings BME's Madrid Co-Location Services to London

European provider of carrier-neutral colocation data center services, Interxion (News - Alert), recently announced that it will offer access to BME's Madrid-based co-location service from Interxion's City of London data center campus. For those who desire remote access between London and Madrid, this new service makes this possible with lower communication costs and significantly reduced latency.

Three one gigabyte fiber optic lines will facilitate this remote connectivity with latencies at less than 13.8 milliseconds between the two cities. This will ensure fast access to co-location systems, while offering customers optimal flexibility as well as complete control of their applications.

This service also provides London-based trading entities access to information supplied by BME Market Data via the same infrastructure, in addition to accessing the Spanish cash and derivatives market. Obviously, in both cases, customers can look forward to low latencies.

"The new service offered in collaboration with Interxion will greatly facilitate remote access to brokers’ systems and therefore to the SIBE and MEFF platforms, guaranteeing the reliability and security of the Spanish stock exchange systems," said Jorge Yzaguirre, director of equities at BME, in a statement. "This is yet another step forward in offering the Spanish market the best available access technology infrastructure."

Greg McCulloch, managing director of Interxion UK, added, "BME is a valuable addition to our Financial Hub in London, and it’s great that our customers can now benefit from this cost-effective connectivity to the Spanish markets.”

Interxion also recently added Sinara Consultants to its London data center, hosting the majority of the company's development systems and test beds, along with its hosted Market Data Platform. Sinara can now also associate with current and prospective clients in an easier manner by way of the data center's matching engines and access points.

The colocation data service provider also this month extended a pre-existing partnership with TeliaSonera International Carrier, supporting the delivery of its bundled IP and hosting services.
