Hurricane Electric (News - Alert) recently unveiled expansion plans in order to handle the huge requirement for its colocation and global carrier services. As part of the expansion, Hurricane Electric will be including an additional 24,000 square feet of space to its 208,000 square feet data center, Fremont 2. Bank of the West will be assisting Hurricane Electric’s expansion plans by providing finance worth $13 million.

The latest space will include a high-powered server environment along with completely redundant power architecture, capable of providing three megawatts of electricity. The general layout and configuration of the latest space will not differ from the existing build-outs. Hurricane Electric's exhaustive global network can now be advantageously utilized by an increased number of leaseholders for connecting to the Web using 10 Gigabit Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet or 100 Mbps Fast Ethernet.

In a statement, Mike Leber, president at Hurricane Electric said, "Hurricane Electric is thrilled with the recent growth in demand for quality colocation services, and to have financing from a well-respected financial institution like Bank of the West. With yet another expansion of our Fremont 2 facility, Hurricane Electric will be able to offer prime wholesale colocation to new customers seeking the high level of service current customers have come to expect. Over the years, more and more companies have chosen Hurricane Electric for our competitive pricing and nearly 100 percent uptime."

Several well-appreciated colocation facilities, like on-site technical support available all day and night, refined up-flow HVAC systems and uninterruptible power sources with back-up generators are present at the Fremont 2 facility. A high-tech digital-video surveillance system is also present for keeping a close watch on all the entrances, exits, hallways and racks in the facility.

Ray Crabb, VP, SBA Lending at Bank of the West said, "Helping small and medium-size enterprises grow their businesses is a top priority for Bank of the West. Hurricane Electric's data center operations serve high-tech customers whose growth powers the engines of our economy. It's a win all around."
