XO Communications (News - Alert), which is all set to launch its services in Toronto as a part of its international network expansion, has reportedly expanded its partnership with the colocation service provider Cologix.
XO Communications, one of the largest communications service providers in the U.S. boasting1.6 million miles of fiber network, has already been using Cologix’ Dallas INFOMART data center. Under the new agreement, XO Communications will be deploying transport and IP infrastructure in Cologix's 30,000 square feet 151 Front Street data center that provides colocation and interconnection support to over 150 customers. The investment is expected to give XO the ability to meet demand for their network services in Canada.
“As a major North American market and a strategic interconnection location in Canada, Toronto is a natural and strategic choice for XO’s international network expansion. We are excited to offer network connectivity services at speeds up to 10 Gbps for Canadia businesses and service providers that need direct access to major markets across the U.S. Cologix has been a great partner for our expansion into Toronto by demonstrating a high touch customer support model that made their customizable solutions and robust facilities even more attractive,” chief marketing officer at XO Communications, Don MacNeil noted in a statement.
Cologix’ 151 Front Street is housed in Toronto's carrier hotel. Cologix operates seven discrete data centers within the building and offers direct connectivity to the Toronto Internet Exchange (TORIX).
In a news statement, Cologix revealed that its 20,000 SQF tier 3 data center at 905 King Street West is soon to debut. This facility will be connected to 151 Front street via a fiber ring that has about 0.016 Millisecond latency.
With data centers in Dallas, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver, Cologix provides one of North America's largest neutral marketplaces where network operators and network buyers interconnect. Cologix offers over 300 network choices, manages thousands of interconnections and has over 500 customers that utilize Cologix colocation and interconnection services in order to grow their networks rapidly and cost-effectively.
“We are thrilled that XO Communications has chosen our 151 Front Street data center to leverage their expansion into Toronto. We are committed to enable XO to reach new customers, sustain their growth goals and provide them with robust connectivity, all backed with unparalleled local customer support and flexibility to meet their growth requirements,” president of Cologix Canada, Sein Maskell noted in a statement.
