Telx Plans to Enter Seattle Market and Expand with Sabey Data Centers

Earlier this week, colocation and interconnection provider, Telx, announced plans to enter the Seattle market, taking space in a facility operated by Sabey Data Centers, the recognized data center developer in the Pacific Northwest.

Known as SEA-1, the new Telx facility will be located in building #4 on Sabey’s Intergate.Seattle East campus facility in Seattle, Washington, and is the company’s 18th Cloud Connection Center.

Intergate.Seattle provides clients with a direct access to major national and regional carriers, as well as to SIX Seattle’s Internet Exchange for peering and to the city’s primary carrier hotel, the Westin Building.

“Today’s announcement marks a significant expansion for Telx as we further solidify our West Coast presence and national portfolio of high-quality data centers. We are pleased to join in partnership with Sabey on this exciting endeavor,” said Chris Downie, president and CFO at Telx.

He added that for its long-term growth strategy, the growing importance of the Seattle market for customers doing business in-region and as a launching point for Asia makes it an important strategic investment.

Throughout the Northwest, working with a prestigious and reputable company such as Sabey at such a key location will help its clients expand and deliver applications and services.

SEA1 is a fully-conditioned data center comprising 114,000 gross square feet and 54,000 square feet of available white space, with an estimated $110 million of investment to date. The facility is expandable by leveraging additional power capacity on campus and offers 9 megawatts of power.

Optimized for cabinets with power densities between 5 kW and 15kW, Telx mentioned that it will invest substantial additional capital into the facility.

John Sabey, president of Sabey Data Centers, concluded that establishing this relationship with Telx at its Intergate facility in Seattle combines its best-in-class property with one of the chief retail colocation providers in the country.
