CyrusOne (News - Alert) is an enterprise data center colocation provider, offering the highest power redundancy (2N architecture) and power-density infrastructure. The company recently forged alliance with RackSolutions, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Innovation First International and source of customized data center physical infrastructure solutions.
Under the partnership, CyrusOne will implement RackSolutions’ custom server rack, cabinet and aisle-door solutions at its large, power-efficient data center facilities.
Depending on their designs, data center facilities implement different types of racking solutions. A vast number of data center prefer to use racks according to their customers’ specifications, and CyrusOne, the designer of some of the most elite data center facilities in the world, is definitely one of them.
To help its clients reduce power consumption, and ensure enhanced security and privacy, CyrusOne will implement RackSolutions’ server containment racks and cabinets at its data centers.
RackSolutions’ custom data center rack includes a fully configurable four-post super-structure. CyrusOne reportedly selected the basic options including height, width, depth, side panels and lockable doors.
They removed some of the features such as caster, thereby reducing the overall cost.
In a nutshell, RackSolutions gave CyrusOne a solution that comes with the exact features and custom add-ons that would best serve its customers’ needs. In addition to improving privacy and security, this racking solution also helped to improve the wire management and aisle air management at CyrusOne’s data center facilities.
With server technology evolving quickly, customers look to future-proof their rack investments. The server containment solutions have been hugely relevant in this respect.
“OEMs are evolving server technology on a continuous basis,” chief operations officer at CyrusOne, Michael Duckett, explained in a statement. “This evolution will in turn impact the width, depth and cooling characteristics of servers, and we wanted to deliver server containment solutions that will evolve in dimension. This approach helps future-proof the rack and cabinet investment for our customers while enabling a more efficient operating environment for our clients’ critical infrastructure.”
CyrusOne also recently announced that it was going to use Gordon Data Center Products heavy-duty, rod-suspended ceiling structures in an open plenum design for colocation.
