Trilithic Broadband Instruments Unveils its New TFS-290

Network technicians have plenty of options when it comes to finding leaks and performing optical tracing over long distances. But one new item, unveiled recently, should be up toward the top of the list in terms of performing these extremely necessary functions: the Trilithic Broadband Instruments' TFS-290 Series Optical Tracer Source (News - Alert).

The TFS-290 offers up two kHz modulation, along with temperature stabilized output, a long battery life that also charges quickly (reports say the emergency quickcharge mode lets the batteries go from dead to charged in an hour), rugged chassis to make it well-suited for field work, and 1550 nm operation that works with ST, SC, and FC ports. It can use either a +5 dBm (News - Alert) or +15 dBm modulated output to perform tests, thus allowing the TFS-290 to be used as a tracer signal generator, especially when, as Trilithic recommends, users incorporate the TFS-FS1 Optical Leakage Detector to work in concert with it. However, they don't operate in continuous wave mode, so some meters that engage in loss testing applications may not work out.

Trilithic's product line carries a 90 day warranty against defects in repair workmanship, and as a standard, also carry a one year warranty against defects to help ensure that the hardware purchased today will continue to serve well through tomorrow and beyond. Those interested in getting hands on the Trilithic line can get in touch with the company directly and request a quote, or find a sales rep at their website for a more personal touch.

Trilithic also offers a variety of other devices to serve related network testing purposes, as well as other, similar purposes, so for those needing more gear to maintain their network, Trilithic is definitely out to be a one stop shop for all those associated needs. And while the TFS-290 may not be the optical tracer provider of choice for every network, it likely will provide plenty of value for those who use it.
