Zayo Group (News - Alert), a national provider of fiber-based bandwidth infrastructure and network-neutral colocation and interconnection services, has recently inked new deal with Peak 10 to be the bandwidth infrastructure provider between their two Charlotte, NC data centers.

Peak 10 specializes in offering managed IT services and cloud solutions through data center infrastructure across the U.S. Recently, the company expanded to the new campus to keep up with the growing demands of Charlotte-based enterprises and also to securely store data off site. This new agreement is said to connect Peak 10’s new 60,000 square foot University Research Park data center to the existing campus in southwest Charlotte.

Peak 10 will utilise Zayo Managed Fiber solution, which helps in managing and operating a fully redundant wavelength system until Peak 10 is ready.

“Utilizing Zayo's Managed Fiber made sense from a scale and economics perspective," said Ronnie Frames, VP of Network and Cloud Infrastructure for Peak 10. "It allows us to quickly create a wave-based network that is secure, redundant and expandable, with the backing of additional expert support to increase our operations skill set in optical networking."

Zayo Managed Fiber solution promises to help the customer to have a scalable network as soon as the new data center is complete, and then assume operational ownership at their discretion.

"The solution provides the ownership economics Peak 10 was looking for while utilizing our operational expertise during the early stages of operation," states Matt Erickson, president for Zayo Fiber Solutions.

Zayo's network assets include approximately 45,700 route miles, covering 42 states plus Washington, D.C. Additionally, Zayo has approximately 5,400 buildings on-net, 440 Points-of-Presence (POPs), 2,300 cell towers on-net, and over 93,000 billable square feet of colocation space.
