Zayo Group (News - Alert) has revealed plans of developing a high-bandwidth network in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The network infrastructure would include a fiber optic cable, which will cover the area from the South Valley to the base of the Sandia Mountains.

A wireless consumer of Zayo will be able to extend its 4G network with this fiber build, covering 158 route miles of the latest network. There are several on-net and near-net buildings throughout the Albuquerque metro.

The chief industries in this area, especially in the sectors of research and development, government and manufacturing, will be offered high-bandwidth communications due to the fiber presence of Zayo. Zayo will now offer Bandwidth Infrastructure in greater Albuquerque as a result of this expansion.

The entire Albuquerque, right from the suburb of South Valley to Bernalillo, east to Highway 556, and west to Highway 448 will be covered by the fiber build. A solitary point of presence in Albuquerque is currently being used by Zayo to offer high-bandwidth communication services to other cities across its nationwide network.

The organization was, however, unable to provide fiber based offering inside the Albuquerque metropolitan area.

"We believe Zayo's fiber expansion into Albuquerque will create significant opportunities for Zayo and improve access to high bandwidth solutions in this brand new Zayo Market," said Matt Erickson, president of Fiber and Transport Infrastructure at Zayo Group.

Zayo Group is a privately held organization based in Louisville, Colorado. The organization offers fiber-based bandwidth infrastructure, network-neutral colocation and interconnection services. Regional, metro, national, global, and fiber-to-the-tower networks are used by Zayo to offer these services. Some of Zayo’s customers include wireline and wireless carriers, data centers, online content and services organizations, high-bandwidth enterprises along with federal, state and local government agencies.

The network possessions of Zayo include more than 61,000 route miles, which cover 45 states in the country. The network assets also cover key cities across the globe, like Washington, D.C., London, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Toronto and Tokyo.

Zayo also boasts nearly 9,000 buildings and 2,400 cell towers on-net, and a minimum of 136,000 square feet of billable colocation space.
