Zayo Group (News - Alert) has further extended its network presence in the greater Denver area. Zayo already offers fiber capacity and ensures that its network can be advantageously used by customers across the region. The latest investment will offer an enhanced fiber build, which will cover the Front Range and include the cities of Fort Collins, Greeley, Loveland, Longmont, Boulder, Colorado Springs, and the larger Denver metro area, especially for a big customer project being carried out in the area.
Currently, fiber optic networks in Denver and Colorado Springs are operated by Zayo. Zayo’s presence in the Central Business Districts of both the cities along with Denver Technology Center will receive an added boost with this extension of fiber network. Customers of Zayo at Arvada, which is to the north of Fort Collins, and Ken Caryl, which is in the southwest corner of the Denver Metro, will be able to avail the fiber network as a result of this extension.
All major industries in Denver area, especially in the fields of research and development, technology, education, and energy, will be ably assisted with Zayo’s 521-route mile Denver extension.
On July 2, 2012, Zayo formally completed its acquisition of AboveNet, Inc, a public Bandwidth Infrastructure provider. Zayo will now offer 900 route miles of fiber network in the greater Denver area by including this network extension to its current Zayo and AboveNet resources.
In a release, Matt Erickson, President, Zayo Fiber and Transport Infrastructure said, “The Front Range is a key area for future telecom growth and we expect there to be opportunities for further fiber network expansion.”

The customers of Zayo comprise of wireline and wireless carriers, data centers, online content and services companies, high bandwidth enterprises and also federal, state and local government agencies. Currently Zayo boasts of network assets of more than 61,000 route miles, which cover 45 states including Washington D.C. in the United States and cities like London, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Toronto and Tokyo.
