CenturyLink has extended its fiber network into five data center facilities located in Charlotte, N.C. This will allow companies in the Charlotte region to have reliable high-speed access to cloud-based services.

From colocation to cloud computing services, CenturyLink asserted that it offers a collaborative approach to providing tailored solutions to meet the needs of one’s business. With CenturyLink data center facilities, users can avoid the expense of building and running their own data center as CenturyLink provides secure, reliable and scalable dedicated hosting services for their critical websites and enterprise applications.

With the company’s fiber link now extending into the five area data centers, users can now avail increased bandwidth through customizable data networking solutions at no additional cost.

CenturyLink’s data solutions reportedly include CenturyLink IQ Internet Port, CenturyLink IQ Networking Private Port and optical wavelength service.

“CenturyLink’s data networking products, combined with reliable connectivity to our nationwide next-generation network and secure access into data centers, will help businesses in Charlotte develop and launch cloud-based offerings needed in today's fast-paced business environment,” said Richard Twilley, CenturyLink vice president of sales. “By helping businesses tap into the power of managed hosting and cloud computing, CenturyLink continues to demonstrate its success in serving enterprise and government customers nationwide.”

Notable features of the CenturyLink data center facilities include biometric palm scanners and secure card-key access to collocation services areas; customer equipment kept in secure locations; around-the-clock indoor and outdoor video surveillance; temperature and humidity control with redundant, multi-zoned, fire suppression systems; Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus (VESDA) systems installed; choice of power circuit types, as well as rack and cage customization; and more.

Recently, CenturyLink offered "TV Everywhere" with the launch of HBO GO and MAX GO, and expanded its corporate campus in Monroe.
