Broadcom (News - Alert) is currently demonstrating its Full-Band Capture remote diagnostic tools at CableLabs Summer Conference in Keystone, Colorado August 5-7 and also introduced a full suite of remote monitoring and diagnostic tools.

The diagnostics platforms are supported on all cable set-top box, modem and gateway platforms with Full-Band Capture digital tuning technology chipsets and are to be used to continuously monitor the cable connections to all data and video channels, said company officials.

By continuously monitoring the entire one GHZ cable spectrum, cable operators can get real-time cable performance information. This will enable them to quickly identify, diagnose and resolve customer service issues faster.

And, more importantly, cable operators can gather troubleshooting information without impacting customer video or data service.

“This service is not only delivering a vastly improved customer service experience, but also facilitates huge cost savings for operators," said Dan Marotta, executive vice president and general manager at Broadcom Communications Group.

The diagnostic tools integrate with the TR-69 protocol, SNMP or other Web server-based protocols and hence real-time diagnostics data can be accessed at home and even remotely.

"Broadcom's breakthrough Full-Band Capture digital tuning technology not only gives operators the flexibility to deliver more channels and services at a lower cost, but it also enables the ability to deliver remote diagnostic services,” explained Marotta, while enumerating the benefits of the new tools.

With the industry's broadest portfolio of state-of-the-art system-on-a-chip and embedded software solutions, Broadcom regards its solutions as being able to change the world by connecting everything.

CableLabs (News - Alert) hosts members-only conferences twice a year which keeps it informed about changing technology and also provides it with a forum to interact with each other.
