Telecommunications services and dark fiber provider, Sunesys recently announced plans to offer lit transport services from across the Philadelphia region to the Philadelphia Technology Park, a high-density, high-redundancy data center facility.
The Philadelphia Technology Park is located at the Navy Yard in Philadelphia and is connected to Sunesys' Northeast regional network, which boasts over 3,300 miles of fiber in Eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, and Delaware.
“Since we installed our connection to the Philadelphia Technology Park earlier this year, we have seen an increased demand for lit services into the facility. With the Sunesys model of end-to-end network dedication, our lit service offering provides a unique solution for customers looking for the highest levels of security, reliability and simplicity,” said Alan Katz, senior vice president of Business Development for Sunesys, in a press release.
Sunesys will expand the dark fiber services it already offers with 1Gbps, 10Gbps, 40Gbps and 100 Gbps layer 2 connections over dedicated fiber strands. Sunesys president, Larry Coleman, pointed out that this isn't the first time the company has offered lit services, but this is the first instance of brining a lit landing point to a regional data center. "We look to expand on this model moving forward,” he added.
Corey Blanton, president of the Philadelphia Technology Park, added that the growing needs of the park's customers require a robust, reliable network with direct integration to Internet and other service providers. "The cost benefits and security of a Sunesys private managed solution offers Philadelphia Technology Park the ability to meet our customer demands to the fullest degree,” finished Blanton.
The Philadelphia Technology Park is a state-of-the-art, 25,700 square foot collocation center that was designed to meet the high density, cooling and bandwidth requirements the Uptime Institute.
In June, the collocation center was chosen by Fox Rothschild, a national law firm, as the primary data center for the firm's entire network.
