Achelea Global Networks Builds Fiber Rings and Routes in New Markets

Achelea Global Networks announced that it is building new fiber rings and routes in several new markets including North Carolina, Georgia and California.

The initial phase of this low-latency fiber optic network includes fiber rings around Charlotte, NC; Georgia and California. The phase I construction routes include Charlotte to Kings Mountain to Asheville, NC; and a diversity route around Kings Mountain, NC; and Charlotte to Raleigh/Durham.

The network build-out will include services like sale of dark fiber, a variety of broadband lit services, network maintenance and monitoring, NOC (News - Alert) services, colocation, help desk/technical support and professional services that include EF&I.

To build these networks and routes, the company has partnered with Turnkey, which will provide communications infrastructure planning, deployment, and maintenance.  Achelea also works with its customers as well as the local community to design and implement a communications infrastructure that best meets customer requirements while minimizing the impact of construction on the local area.

Achelea's goal is to serve a minimum of one million customers nationally with a global reach. The company targets carriers, large and small businesses, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, governmental agencies, public safety entities and residential customers.

The company will expand the services to other areas in phases. In addition to the major cities the company also targets rural, underserved, and un-served areas. Several segments and routes of this network are expected to be complete during 4th quarter 2012 and 1st quarter of 2013.

In another related development in the region, CenturyLink recently announced it has extended its fiber network into five data center facilities located in Charlotte, N.C. This will allow companies in the Charlotte region to have reliable high-speed access to cloud-based services.

With the company’s fiber link now extending into the five area data centers, users can now avail increased bandwidth through customizable data networking solutions at no additional cost, according to company officials. CenturyLink’s data solutions include CenturyLink IQ Internet Port, CenturyLink IQ Networking Private Port and optical wavelength service.
