Conterra Broadband Services, a provider of high capacity wide area network (WAN) services especially for the underserved markets, has just completed a high-speed fiber-based broadband network for the Red Lion Area School District to power its "Bring Your Own Technology" policy.
Through the "Bring Your Own Technology" policy, the school district allows its students to bring their personal computing and communications devices to school. As a result, Red Lion experienced a huge demand for bandwidth and Internet access.
Following a rigorous RFP, Red Lion Area School District chose Conterra to deploy WAN services. The school district was convinced with the capability of Conterra as the network solutions provider has already provided microwave links to a few of the schools.
The WAN deployment has immensely helped the Red Lion Area School District. The network has increased the amount of bandwidth available to support applications such as distance learning, social media, Web 2.0 and cloud-based solutions. It also supports current and future security needs of the school district as well.
"This newly built, fiber-based network brings technology and physical plant to a previously underserved area," said Dennis Francis, president and chief operating officer of Conterra Broadband Services, in a statement. "Conterra's solution offers the district a ubiquitous, broadband network that opens up new opportunities to leverage technology to transform education.”
Jared Mader, director of Technology Services for the Red Lion Area School District, said, "With Conterra's network, the bandwidth on the WAN will no longer be the limiting factor for performance.”
The Charlotte, NC-based Conterra provides facilities-based broadband services for K-12, healthcare and government entities, wireless and wireline carriers, and select enterprises primarily in underserved areas throughout America.
Recently Conterra announced partnership with Centina Systems, a provider of service assurance and service quality management solutions for communications service providers worldwide, to deploy Centina NetOmnia solution for Conterra Broadband Services.
