Comcast (News - Alert) allows users to connect with their customers, suppliers, and remote sites easily, efficiently and affordably with its scalable, secure Ethernet data services and 24/7 dedicated national and local support. Regardless of how complex Ethernet network requirements are, Comcast has fiber optic solution created to assist in keeping business applications running smoothly and everyone in the company connected with one robust and secure network.

Recently, the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) deployed Comcast Business Class Ethernet services in its Fab Lab.

Fab Lab is an interactive workshop that enables users to take advantage of digital fabrication technologies. They can do this by making use of files of two- or three-dimensional computer drawings to replicate new and inventive products onto different types of equipment, the company stated in a press release.

To help in the school's transfer of data, voice and video, CCBC decided to add an Ethernet Network Service (ENS) from Comcast. Also, to offer high-speed Web access and improve the school's video conferencing and distance learning initiatives for both on- and off-campus students and faculty, it has also deployed an Ethernet Dedicated Internet (EDI) line.

“Schools like CCBC are increasingly taking advantage of remote collaboration tools like the Fab Lab to create borderless classrooms that encourage learning even beyond campus walls," said John Whalen, regional vice president for Comcast Business Services. "These initiatives require the use of high performance, reliable connectivity, and Comcast has the infrastructure in place to help support them in these goals.”

Recently, the company introduced its 911 Education Center. This online resource will provide tips on how to use 911 and is tailored for children of all ages. The U.S. Congress designated April as National 911 Education Month in the year 2008. The launch marks the National 911 Education Month in. April. An estimated 240 million calls are made to 911 in the U.S. each year according to the National Emergency Number Association (NENA).
