FiberMedia Attains SSAE 16 Certification

With a continued commitment to deliver advanced, secure and intelligent datacenter solutions that comply with highest industry standards, FiberMedia Group, LLC successfully completed the Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) 16 certification.

By receiving the SSAE 16 certification, FiberMedia now demonstrates to its customers that it has the ability to exceed security, compliance and safety-related requirements for controls and safeguards when hosting customer data.

As a data center services provider with facilities throughout the New York metropolitan area and Cleveland, Ohio, FiberMedia was in need to update itself with advanced security certification such as SSAE 16.

The SSAE 16 certification effectively replaces SAS (News - Alert) 70 as the authoritative guidance for reporting on service organizations.

Finalized by the Auditing Standards Board of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) in January 2010, the SSAE 16 was drafted with the intention and purpose of updating the US service organization’s reporting standard so that it mirrors and complies with the new international service organization’s reporting standard ISAE 3402.

According to a statement, SSAE 16 replaces FiberMedia's previous SAS 70 certification, thereby effectively replacing it as the authoritative guidance for reporting on service organizations.

Some of the key components for obtaining this certification include: the ability to assess and reduce risk; propel business continuity; and provide customers with controlled security measures.

The SSAE 16 certification requires few assessment processes that involve the completion of SOC 1, SOC 2 and SOC 3 reports, which are compiled by AICPA. These standardized reports review multiple aspects of an organization.

Officials with FiberMedia said that these standardized reports also reviewed multiple aspects of FiberMedia's internal control over financial reporting (ICFR), security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality and privacy in accordance with AICPA's Trust Service Principles and AT Section 101.

Michael Bucheit, CEO of FiberMedia Group, said in a statement, "Exceeding SSAE 16 requirements across all of our datacenters as well as SOC requirements across our cloud and managed services platform, further demonstrates our commitment to consistently deliver best-of-breed, intelligent datacenter solutions to all our customers."

FiberMedia provides Intelligent Data Center Solutions, which deliver both the resiliency and security of physical infrastructure and the flexibility and cost-effectiveness of the Cloud.

Currently, the company's data centers are strategically located in six markets offering both primary and disaster recovery/business continuity services. Some of the datacenters include: Secaucus, New Jersey, Westchester, New York, Manhattan, New York, Brooklyn, New York, Jersey City, New Jersey, and Cleveland, Ohio.
