One of the limiting factors of emerging South American economic growth is the availability of reliable, high-speed internet access. Secure, reliable internet access is important for more than just Web-based businesses. Internet access is required for many different transaction systems even in brick and mortar retailers.
That's why Brazil rejoiced when AFL announced last week that it would expand its presence in South America.
AFL is a reputable provider of fiber optic solutions, and its decision to expand support in Brazil is in response to the rapid growth of the country's Fiber to the Home (FTTH) program.
Part of AFL's announcement was the introduction of Tony Medeiros as the New Technology (News - Alert) Consultant and Brazil Representative for AFL. Though Mederios' office is in Sao Paulo, he will have responsibility to represent AFL throughout the country of Brazil.
“In South America, Brazil is truly setting the pace in FTTH deployment. AFL is pleased to be a part of this growth and bring our expertise to new customers in the region,” commented Steve Althoff, EVP and general manager. “Tony has a proven record of using his technical acumen to make a difference in complex projects.”
To celebrate its expansion into the South American country, AFL is hosting a series f FTTH Fiber Optic Technology Seminars coving issues such as network topologies, latest technologies in testing FTTH networks, overview of FTTH implementation throughout the USA and a preview of Certified Fiber to the Home Planner (CFHP) prerequisite material.
The first two seminars were held last week in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, while the remainders are still being planned.
