Recently, Nevion (News - Alert) announced new additions to its fiber transport portfolio, which includes Flashlink transport system family. The company also announced an improved perfect protection switch, simultaneously reducing dangers and increasing flexibility for broadcasters.

The Flashlink transport system family from Nevion provides solutions ranging from simple CWDM/DWDM point-to-point links to nationwide optical links. The Flashlink line offers signal processing solutions including format conversion, frame synchronizers, embedders/de-embedders, couplers, up/down/cross-converters, optical and distribution amplifiers and transport systems.

Flashlink offers ultra low power, compact form factors and high reliability for broadcast environments.

Offering the longest 3G-SDI reach in the industry over dark fiber and unmatched fiber transport bandwidth, Nevion’s Flashlink fiber portfolio transports all important broadcast signal formats, which consist of 10G, with complete time division and wavelength division multiplexing.

Saving capital costs by installing exactly what’s needed at any given time, users can apply passive optical products for even more scalable and flexible systems. For DVB-ASI and SDI video streams across any network infrastructure, Nevion’s VS7700 dual-channel intelligent perfect switch provides unmatched protection.

“Patented technology for our perfect protection switch bases decisions not only on disrupted signals but also on the quality of the primary and backup transport streams,” said Svein Håvard Haugen, director of engineering at Nevion. “We’ve applied the same principles of smart engineering to our fiber products, wrapping in multiple functionality for more scalable and flexible solutions.”

The company recently announced it will showcase its new signal processing solutions that support higher quality and enhanced density for 3G, apart from the ability to mix and match with the help of highly flexible modules. Facilitating the new AES-VMUX to function as both a multiplexer and demultiplexer, the suite can cater to the specific requirements of any application.
