Sidera Networks (News - Alert) is a regional fiber provider with a high specialization in high performance, high capacity networks. The company’s target audience is the largest enterprises that demand the biggest applications and extremely low latency networking. Back in 2001, the year of the unforgettable terrorist attacks of September 11, Sidera was there firsthand to witness the horrible effects this catastrophe had on the city’s communications networks. Since then, it has been working hard to build extreme ultra latency networks in New York and New Jersey, where most of all world’s trading takes place today.
In 2013, the company plans to extend its New York and New Jersey financial services network to Chicago and even extend it all the way out to San Paulo. Within coming years, Sidera also has plans to extend its footprint to other important exchange locations and completely rebrand itself as an organization, according to Joe Cumello, vice president of Marketing, Sidera Networks.
With the goal of “remaining cutting edge within the financial services space,” the fiber provider has been hard at work and only a couple of weeks ago upgraded every low latency route it powers in New York in order to reduce latency, and will be connected to a big data center in Mahwah, N.J. come February.
Additionally, Sidera Networks is fully committed to connecting to every data center within a two miles radius of its headquarters and has already connected to virtually every data center in Ashburn. This location is key to the financial services industry as it was in search of a different backup and recovery site because all others were filling up at a rapid pace. In fact, the business owns the only diverse fiber route to 95 and is currently “really focusing on enterprise and data centers,” Curnello added.
Continuously expanding the network and building onto it, the media and entertainment vertical is increasingly turning to the provider due to the fact that video demands a ton of bandwidth.
Cumello commented, “Right now, everyone is talking about the cloud and data centers, but none of it works without the network and we are proud that we put in that infrastructure.”
