TE Connectivity (News - Alert), a provider of highly engineered solutions that connect and protect data and power, has introduced a new 24-fiber trunking and interconnect solution and dubbed it as common sense approach for today’s data center.
TE Connectivity serves customers in more than 150 countries in a variety of industries including automotive; data communication systems; consumer electronics; telecommunications; aerospace, defense and marine; medical; energy; and lighting. The new solution has been designed especially for the data centers catering to the healthcare, finance, government or broadcasting industries.
In a statement, the company explained that it’s 24-fiber trunking and interconnect solution has been designed to make transitioning from current 1000Base-T applications to 40 gigabit Ethernet (GbE) and 100 GbE easy to accomplish and cost-effective.
The solution, according to its maker, enables the data center managers to build a consistent fiber infrastructure for the next three generations. With its plug-n-play functionality, the solution will support easy migration to higher speeds. By enabling longer shelf life of the fiber cable and higher utilization of the fiber investment, the solution will offer significant cost benefits for the data centers.
TE’s 24-fiber trunking and interconnect solution allows enterprise data center managers to follow a common sense methodology that offers:
- Guaranteed support for 10, 40, 100 GbE
- Maximum utilization of deployed fibers
- Better airflow and energy efficiency
- Increased density in fiber panels
- Significant increase in return on investment (ROI)
“Our solution is a common sense approach for today’s data center. Network managers looking to deliver on the promise of high performance to their users and move to higher bandwidth and service levels to accommodate future applications and devices need to consider the superior economics and simplicity of our 24-fiber trunking and interconnect solution,” senior product manager of fiber solutions at TE Enterprise Networks Hutch Coburn, said in a statement.
“Imagine installing your fiber trunking once and not having to replace it for the next two or three generations of active equipment upgrades. This solution provides a tremendous advantage for data center managers – specifically those in the healthcare, finance, government or broadcasting industries. The last thing anyone wants to face is not being able to support new and upcoming applications for their users or businesses due to bandwidth limitations. TE’s plug-and-play solution offers lower future capital and operating expense, defines a clear migration path that can begin today and ensures optimal asset utilization – minimizing dark fibersm,” business line manager of data center solutions at TE Enterprise Networks, Kam Patel further elaborated.
