ECI Telecom (News - Alert) has announced that the company has partnered with RCS & RDS, a cable operator in Romania, to install 100G channels over its existing network. The company will be using its advanced Optimized Multi-Layer Transport (OMLT) platforms, Apollo for this purpose.
The Apollo Optimized Multilayer Transport (OMLT) is a purpose-built, next-gen modular transport portfolio that combines Layer 0, 1, 2, and Layer 3 technology, offering a dependable OAM model equally applicable to circuit and packet traffic, and providing a combined multilayer management view.
RCS & RDS installed the Apollo line of Optimized Multi-Layer Transport (OMLT) platforms, part of ECI’s 1Net framework of equipment, services and solutions. Between Oradea to Bucharest over the Apollo transport solution, the 100G DWDM network connects core routers. RCS & RDS will be the first provider to offer 100G bandwidth in the country.
The company will be able to save considerable capex and opex expenses by using the Apollo over the XDM network, as both platforms share the same Network Management System, LightSoft.
“The ability to implement 100G in our current network is a confirmation of our continuous effort to invest in cutting-edge communications solutions,” stated Yoav Gazelle, head of sales and marketing for Europe & Americas, ECI Telecom. “For more than 10 years, ECI has been an innovative and experienced strategic partner that helped us provide our customers with exceptional services. The move to 100G will enable RCS & RDS to better meet the needs of its customer base by quickly reacting to current and future bandwidth.”
Recently, the company stated that that the Israeli Electric Corporation (IEC (News - Alert)) selected its Apollo family of state of the art optical transport network solutions to cater to its growing network connectivity requirements.
